Born Light 43" Extra Tall Baby Safety Gate for Stairs & Doorways, 29.7-41" Adjustable Width, Auto-Close Pressure Mount Toddler Gate — No Drill, Double Lock, White
Details
A 43-inch gate for the years when 30 inches isn't enough.
Most baby gates are built to about 30 inches tall. That works until the day your toddler learns to lean. This one stands 43 inches and fits openings 29.7-41 wide — tall enough for stairs, wide enough for the doorway you actually need to block.
Why parents pick this one
- Tall enough for the climbers — At 43 inches this gate stands well above the 30-inch standard most toddlers can lean over. It fits openings from 29.7-41 wide, so it handles both a standard hallway and a wider archway without an extension kit.
- Pressure mounted — no drilling, no damage — Four rubber-tipped pressure bolts tighten against the frame by hand. Nothing is screwed into your wall or doorframe, so the gate comes off clean when the babyproofing years are over. Wall cups are included if you want it permanent at the top of stairs.
- Closes itself, swings both ways — Open it less than 90 degrees and it swings shut and latches on its own — no more finding the gate wide open behind you. Past 90 degrees it stays open for carrying a child or a laundry basket through.
- Two-step lock a toddler can't work out — The release needs a thumb button pressed and the lower latch squeezed at the same time — a single push or a hard shove will not open it. Adults do it one-handed while holding a baby.
- Certified, and built in the factory that sells it to you — Tested to ASTM and EN safety standards. We make this gate in our own facility, so the price is the cost of building it plus one honest margin — not a chain of markups.

Where it works
Doorways, hallways and the bottom of stairs can all be pressure mounted. For the top of a staircase, use the included wall cups — a pressure-only mount should never be the only thing between a toddler and a flight of stairs, and we'd rather say so than sell you a gate that fails.
Installing it
- Set the gate in the opening with the bolts loose and the frame level.
- Tighten the four pressure bolts by hand until the gate resists a firm push. Do not overtighten — it bows the frame.
- For stairs, mark and screw the wall cups to the wall, then re-tension the gate into them.
- Test the lock: press the button and squeeze the latch together. If it opens with a single motion, re-tension.
Fit check before you buy
Measure the opening at its narrowest point, not the doorframe. If your baseboard is thick, measure above it — pressure bolts need a flat, parallel surface to grip. This gate is for openings 29.7-41; it is not for openings wider than that without an extension.
One honest note: pressure-mounted gates are for keeping a child out of a room, not for stopping a determined dog at the top of stairs. If that's your situation, use the wall cups.
